GOAL: 224,000lbs of FOOD
CURRENT: 180,765lbs of FOOD
Provide a meal that starts it all. At the rescue missions, it's often by first meeting someone's basic needs, like food, that we can develop a relationship that leads to a life-change.
Last year, the Water Street Mission, the York Rescue Mission, and the Lebanon Rescue Mission served 380,000 meals for the hungry and homeless. These meals were all provided through donations! That's why your partnership is so important. Plus, your efforts will help the rescue missions provide thousands of food boxes this holiday season.

HOW MUCH is 224,000lbs?

ORGANIZE your own FOOD DRIVE
1) DECIDE WHO YOU WANT TO ASK TO PARTICIPATE
Will it be your church, your school class, your coworkers or your Scouting troop?
2) DECIDE HOW YOU WANT TO RAISE THE FOOD
Canvas a neighborhood? Ask individuals to pick up extra cans of food when they shop?
3) SET A START DATE AND END DATE FOR YOUR FOOD DRIVE
4) SET A GOAL
How many pounds of food do you want to challenge your group to raise? Set the bar high, but make sure it's realistic.
5) MAKE IT A COMPETITION!
A healthy challenge between offices, classrooms, age groups, etc. usually motivates people to do more.
6) LET PEOPLE KNOW!
Send emails, use Facebook, make phone calls or post flyers.
7) MAKE THE MOST DIFFERENCE
Be sure to request the suggested food items listed below or in the flyer.
8) CALL THE RESCUE MISSION IN YOUR COUNTY FOR DROP OFF TIMES
If you'd like to better understand how your donations will be used, ask to schedule a tour when you drop off the food!
9) KNOW THAT YOU ARE MAKING A BIG DIFFERENCE!
Rescue missions can't serve the homeless without your help! Thank you in advance for partnering with us to change lives!
